The Final Major Project

Visuals for my summative assesment
Transformer (Nikola Tesla)

As one of the most influential industrial engineers and inventors of the last century Nikola Telsa defined the world as we know it. Although some of us might not know it, many items on his list of inventions are still used today, 100 years after his initial conception. My goal is to breath life into his approach to energy consumption through redesigning his identity as the leading modern energy oligarch. What i have compiled so far are color palettes, competitors, and visuals i find useful in describing what kind of identity I’m curating.

ESA Rosetta

We were tasked to digest the information given to us about the expedition and chose the numerical factor that we found the most valuable or interesting. I found that when i first looked through the information online that gravity, predictability and patience were particularly difficult to represent. I wanted to communicate to the youngest target audience we had to chose from, which was 7-11, because I rejected to participate in those particular projects earlier due to their challenging nature. What I want to do is create a tactile learning experience where gravity and time are explored through large and small scale puzzles meant to inhabit museums as well as classrooms. The large scale is designed in Cinema 4d and the other is sketches and is in the process of being constucted.

Self-Initiated Brief

My self-initiated project idea was drafted last semester but was not used until now because of the pathway I happened to choose. At its core it was a comparison between architecture and urban ecosystems and our overall hapiness and state of emotion. But has now moved into something more personal. After comparing two polar opposite spaces (Rajasthan, India and Verbier, Switzerland I found that flow, uninhabited space and navigation were peculiar factors in how architecture affects our lives. But to make it more personal I began studying London skateparks and spots trying to uncover their weaknesses as designed and adopted spaces. What I wanted to focus on was how to create a navigation system for each park that makes night skateboarding a possibility.

Fashion Collaboration

An opportunity arose to help a fellow design student and I chose to do it before I knew what it was about. She a second year Textiles Design student and was looking for someone to edit and manipulate video footage of the print in various settings. She described her design process and had a predetermined visual outcome in mind but needed help using the software. Coincidentally I too was experimenting with luminous and UV activated paint so this experince really helped be understand its qualities. All of the film was captured on a Canon Eos 5D Mark II with a 24-105 mm lens.

The music used is a slowed down, lowpassed, delayed and reverbed version of Elliphant's "All Or Nothing" that I effected through Adobe's Premiere Pro (Using all of the standard plug-ins). The video footage was Warp Stabilized (motion smoother) and Turbulent displaced (animated through key frames and changing the evolution level). The overlays were downloaded from creative commons groups online. The storyline represents a dialogue between occultists and their beliefs, revealing inner forms of self and their exterior misrepresentations.
